Rev. Mark Whitley
My name is Mark Whitley and I was born in Beaumont, TX, but I grew up in Lake Charles and Moss Bluff, Louisiana. My family and I moved to Oklahoma from Washington, DC in 1996. My education includes
•Bachelor of Science in Biology (Medical Technology) from McNeese State University, Lake Charles, in 1980
•Bachelor Science in Biology (Pre-Medicine) from McNeese State University, in 1983
•Master of Divinity from Phillips Theological Seminary, Tulsa, in 2008.
•Doctor of Ministry work begun at St. Paul School of Theology, Kansas City, in 2016.
After a 26-year career in healthcare, I entered into full-time ministry in 2000 and was ordained in 2011. After teaching for 23 years my wife, Rev. Susan Whitley, also entered into the ministry in 2007 and was ordained in 2012. Susan and I married in 1979. We are blessed with three children, Bryan (born in 1982), Chris (born in 1984), and Caitlin (born 1991). Upon ordination in 2011, I was appointed to Verdigris United Methodist Church as Senior Minister by Bishop Robert E. Hayes.
My name is Lonette Celia Gordon. I am the oldest of four children. I was born in Sacramento CA and lived in the small town of Rio Linda, California until I was 8 yrs. old. Then my family moved to Laranga, LA where my father pastored his first church. I graduated from Rio Linda High School in 1972. I married Craig in 1974. We have three children: two daughters, Heather and Alisha, who are married and have blessed us with five wonderful grandchildren; our youngest child and only son, Johnathan, is currently attending college at Rogers State University. I first came here because I found out that Verdigris United Methodist Church was looking for a secretary from my neighbor who attends here. I had never been a secretary, and VUMC had never had a secretary before, so we have learned and grown together over the last 14 years. I feel blessed to be able to be involved in what God is accomplishing through this church.
My name is Tiffany Hilgemann. I was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, but raised in Claremore, Oklahoma. I am married to my best friend, Ryan, and we have three children – Bode, Rylee, and Kennedy. I am a licensed cosmetologist and massage therapist, I have my Associate of Applied Science, and my Bachelor of Arts in Education. When the position for director came available, my family and I visited the church. We have enjoyed services and the people here, and I now have the privilege to serve here.
